The Cabinets are here!!! Had no idea they were coming in today.. got the call at work so they decided to just drop them off in our garage. We thought they were going to be stored in the warehouse..apparently not..oops.. Oh well. So our garage is full, can't walk in it until we get these cabinets out of here.. other then that no progress on the kitchen.. Contractors decided to take 2 days off.. I was hoping the chimney would be down by now but whatever, it'll happen soon enough. I'm just so ready to get rid of this dust in the house. Brian suggested we hire a cleaner once this is done to give the house a good cleaning - I agree..it definitely needs it.. Everywhere I look there is a layer of dust.. Am I dealing well? Not very but it'll be over soon enough. Next need to confirm that we still have our granite choice - I think we chose a steel gray which is really a black granite with little specks of silver.. they had 1 sheet when we were there last..

Oh and just found out that we have yucky wiring in the kitchen.. more moola..sigh:-(

So Christmas came and went:-( We had 4 days off but sure didn't feel like it.. spent most of that time clearing out the kitchen and the upstairs room so the contractors can start and start they did.. Yep, its true, finally happening and I'm not dealing too well.. they came by around 1pm the day after Christmas and tore down the cabinets and it has been chaos since. We have no kitchen and no washing machine.. our house is dirty and filled with dust.. driving me crazy and we're in day 3?? oh boy..it'll be a long 6 weeks before this is done but it'll be worth it.. or at least thats what I keep telling myself....

This weekend the plan is to go pick up a Pacific range hood.. its the ones you see in all asian households.. apparently very powerful for all that stir fry cooking we do..well not me but in case I get the urge to stir fry some day. the last thing on our list is a dishwasher which we're getting through Quadrant - a whirlpool gold stainless.. oh and some knobs and pulls..

Bathroom update - so Brian looked at it and no luck on the plumbing so I called the plumbers.. 1800bucks for an "easy job"! What the heck! so Brian's friend came by and he's going to show him how to do it.. I'm hoping that works because we did not intend to spend another 2K for this little bathroom .. crossing my fingers...

Sink - Kindred undermount.. its HUGE

Looks yellow but its satin nickel.. bin pulls for all the drawers

Delta Waterfall Faucet in stainless.. trying to get off Ebay..much cheaper..

Well so Brian planned on fixing the plumbing this weekend and unfortunately that didn't happen so the plumber is coming by tomorrow to give us a quote.. probably a good thing. Apparently homeowners cannot move waste lines by themselves without a permit..oops.. but we did make some progress.. made a Home Depot run on Friday with my brother and his fiancee. We got all our fixtures, sinks, tile, etc - all at 20% off! Great timing.. Oh we also have out vanity - well almost.. this is an antique table and mirror we bought from an antique store downtown. Brian is going to cut a whole in the table and drop in a sink - voila, instant vanity! Well its not that easy but it'll look great.. although I feel really guilty about chopping up this pretty table.. oh well..

So the demo is done and its been sitting like that for about 3 weeks now.. hmm.. maybe its time to pull out the numbers for the plumbers and electricians:-) But it is the holidays and we've been very busy with last minute stuff for the kitchen remodel and getting our home ready for Xmas.. so maybe I should cut Brian some slack.. Oh well, how about some holiday pics instead... We had to hit 3 HOme Depots to get this tree.. They were all sold out! Odd..
Stanley thinking real hard about eating that sparkly gold glass bulb - it has to taste better then rotten leaves and dry wall..hmmm..

Nothing like the smell of a fresh tree..

My attempt to "be like Martha".. well not quite but it turned out okay.. stole some holly from the neighbor..they wont' miss it..

Bathroom Remodel.. so we didn't plan on a bathroom remodel but our kitchen remodel kept getting delayed (thanks to yours truely) so we were itching to get something started.. and as a result, Brian decided to work onthe bathroom downstairs.. and since it wasn't a huge space we or actually Brian decided that he would attempt to do this himself.. eek.. Amy was already figuring in the cost of plumbers and electricians.. just in case:-) Bath before - minus green glass cube wall.... wish you could all have seen it..
John working on the baseboards..
Tile floor before
and After... its a good thing we did this.. found a whole in the floor:-( Plaster gone.. lathe boards still up..
